About Winona's Hemp & Heritage Farm

OUR MISSION

Winona’s Hemp and Heritage Farm will generate local wealth in our community by establishing a training institute for indigenous foods and hemp farming and working with our youth to create the next generation of Anishinaabe farmers.

Miigwech for supporting our successful Kickstarter Campaign!

On indigenous peoples day I launched my dream project on Kickstarter to raise the money to purchase the 40 acres of land I had sought out for my hemp dream. By my deadline on Thanksgiving of 2017 and with the help of 962 backers, we were able to raise over $132,337 dollars! Thanks to all who donated and help spread the word we now have the land and this is only the beginning.

Anishinaabe Akiing, our territory is a beautiful land of biodiversity and pristine waters. Our people, however have suffered significantly from the appropriation of our land, and our economy. While much of the territory to the south and west of us faces agricultural runoff contamination, we have land which is still healthy, and waters which are still good. Our 40-acre farm has rich soils, healthy waters and a barn where we will store our seeds and hemp. This farm will be an anchor for the restoration of traditional varieties, hemp test plots, and a training place for horse powered agriculture. This farm will be an anchor for the restoration of traditional varieties, hemp test plots, and a training place for horse powered agriculture.
